Road Trip To South Berwick, Maine

We took a nice road trip to South Berwick on Saturday to visit the Sarah Orne Jewett house (on the right) on Saturday. We took a tour of the house and gardens. It was very interesting and I learned quite a bit about the author and her home. We went into Rollingsford, NH for lunch. We decided to check another Historic New England property, Hamilton House. I absolutely loved the grounds! The tour guide at the Jewett House had recommended that we take a picnic lunch to Hamilton House and I can see why. It's situated on a bluff overlooking the Salmon Falls River with beautiful gardens and a wonderful field. The mansion is pretty spectacular too!

The Raspberries are Ripe!

We have a little raspberry patch in our backyard. It started with just 3 little stalks from my in-laws' yard in Southwest Harbor and now we have more than we can eat fresh, so we found a great recipe for this raspberry cake. Here's a link to the recipe: http://recipes.epicurean.com/recipe/23340/raspberry-almond-coffee-cake.html
